one-way street

Friday, September 30th, 2005

i’m only a bus stop to shelter you from the hard rain,
once it has stopped, u’ll walk away without a glance back,
to your warm, cozy HOME, full of love,
the place where u belong,
and here i will stay, abandoned.. and forgotten.

Thank You in Advance

By Boyz II Men

(Excuse me, I know we just met
But may I have this dance?)

Sitting here with a drink in my hand
Your presence I can’t ignore
I must admit I like watching you dance
But it seems like I’ve seen this before
Girl, you look like my first wife
Though I’ve never been married before
So I kiss your hand and tell you "Thank you"
You turn and ask me what for

For our first kiss on next week
For when we make love in six weeks
For the ring you wore proudly three months from now
For when you said "I do" next March
And for those beautiful children of ours
Yes, I know it might sound strange cuz we just met
But I thank you in advance

(Shawn, help me sing it)

Hi, my name is Shawn
Tell me your name
Although I know the last one
It’s funny that we’re shaking hands
[Wait a minute, I know this hand]
It’s the same hand (I’ll hold in front of a minister)
Same hand (when you’re havin’ my son and his sister)
I don’t mean to sound so bold and forward
But I thank you in advance

For our first kiss on next week
For when we make love in six weeks
For the ring you wore proudly three months from now
For when you said "I do" next March
And for those beautiful children of ours
Yes, I know it might sound strange cuz we just met
But I thank you in advance

It’s like I came back in time to tell you thank you
You’re as beautiful then as you are now
Look in the mirror, there is a picture
Of you and the man you love

For our first kiss on next week
For when we make love in six weeks
For the ring you wore proudly three months from now
For when you said "I do" next March
And for those beautiful children of ours
Yes, I know it might sound strange cuz we just met
But I thank you in advance

I find confidence VERY intriguing. Yeah, yeah, I know I’m not that special, but hey, a little dreaming never hurt anybody…

Kenapa

By Shazzy feat Lah VE
sebelum ku kenalimu
hidupku cukup ngan suka duka
tak pernahku sangka semuanya akan berubah
dikau bagaikan cahaya, bagi jiwa ku ini
tak mungkinku lupa katamu kan sentiasa di sisi
bagaikan satu kisah cinta kita berdua ke mana
asyik berpegangan tangan orang lain dilupakan
apa terjadi, diriku masih tertekan
hati dilukai setelah janji di tunaikan
tiap kali ku fikir, tiada guna bersedih
rakan-rakan katakan buang masa ku cintai
dikau punca pedihku, tiada baik darimu
tiada langsung yang benar dalam ungkapan bibirmu
kenapa harus ku bercinta
kenapa ku begini
kenapa harus ku tanggung semua
kenapa harus ku bercinta
kenapa ku percaya
kenapa aku diperbodohkan kasih
tak mungkin ku lupa kali pertama bersua
tak sangka, dikau kan menjadi pedih yang akan dalami jiwa
siang malam termenung, sedih memakan hati
tak pernah ku ingat ku boleh diluka begini
namun ku cekal hatiku, tuk melupakanmu
ku tahu kau begitu
malas ku nak rayu, buang tenagaku
kau takkan mendengarku
selamat tinggal oh kasih
janganlah iri hati
hidup baru kan mula bila terbitnya mentari
kenapa harus ku bercinta
kenapa ku percaya
kenapa harus ku diperbodohkan
kenapa harus ku merayu
kenapa ku percaya
kenapa harus ku dikecewakan kasih
kenapa harus ku bercinta
kenapa ku percaya
kenapa harus ku diperbodohkan
kenapa harus ku merayu
kenapa ku bercinta
kenapa harus ku pegang janjimu
kenapa harus ku merayu
kenapa ku bercinta
kenapa harus ku diperbodohkan
kenapa harus ku percaya
kenapa ku bercinta
kenapa harus ku pegang pada janjimu
kasih
sekian lama telah ku simpan rasa ini di hati
baru kini ku berani tuk mengatakan oh gadis
dikau punca segala, kepedihan di hatiku
tak ingin lagi ku lihat wajahmu dihadapanku
(Now I know why Iemah and my sister, Atiqah, are crazy about this song)

Creed for Women

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

To all the women out there, here’s to you.

"A woman should have…

One old love she can imagine going back to and one who reminds her how far she has come.

Enough money within her control to move out and rent a place of her own, even if she never wants to or need to.

Something perfect to wear if the employer or date of her dreams should want to see her in an hour.

A youth she is content to leave behind, and a past juicy enough for her to look forward to retelling in her old age.

A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.

One friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry.

A good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family.

Eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems and a recipe for a meal that will make her guests feel honoured.

And a feeling of control over her destiny.

Every woman should know…

How to fall in love without losing herself, how to quit a job or break up with a lover, and how to confront a friend without ruining the friendship.

When to try harder and when to walk away.

That she cannot change the length of her calves, the width of her hips or the nature of her parents.

That her childhood may not have been perfect, but it’s over.

What she will or will not do for love, or more.

How to live alone, even if she doesn’t like it.

Whom she can trust, whom she cannot, and why she shouldn’t take some things personally.

Where to go… be it to her best friend’s kitchen table or a charming motel in the countryside when her soul needs soothing.

And what she can or cannot accomplish in a day, a month and a year."

Love’s like that

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

My first blog and it had to be about love. Typical me, huh? It’s just that I’m so darn curious. I read this article in the paper a few days ago. Most probably some of you have read it too. It goes like this:

"Hello. I’m Love. Do you know me? I bet you do. You can find me practically anywhere. I am there for everyone, yet I belong to nobody.

But you have to be very careful of me as I am very contagious. If you want me, you can get me from anyone - your parents, brothers and sisters, your friends, soulmate, and even your pet.

I’m really very special and different from my cousin, Like. When you’re before me, your heart beats faster and winter seems like spring. But in front of Like, winter is just beautiful and you’ll feel just the same.

The feeling of Love starts from the yes, but the feeling of Like starts from the ears. If you stop liking a person, all you need to do is cover your ears. But if you try to close your eyes, Love turns into a teardrop and remains in your heart forever."

Ok, now I’m confused. That last part, what the HECK does it mean? I’ve come across it before, but it gets even more confusing every time I try to make sense of it. Whoever came up with that philosophy? Sheesh. So, all the Dr Love’s out there, shed some light on me ok? Please.
